Introduction

Missinabi River Adventure

We are about to embark on a nine-day adventure on the Missinaibi River in Northern Ontario. For tandem paddling we are outfitted in a 17 foot Nova Craft Prospector.

The Missinaibi is a historically famous fur-trading river used for commerce to and from Hudson Bay. You can do it just to “punch your ticket,” but it is worth the trip from every aspect of paddling as well. You need endurance for the miles of flat water, a strong back for multiple portages and technical skills for the rapids. The water levels will vary so much and can make another experience entirely different.
