September Missinaibi River, Day 6
There was a fair amount of flat water paddling to the day, one of the longest distances we had to do at 21 miles. But at least there was sun and a little wind at our back. We carried the top of Two Portages Falls but ran the bottom easily.
Saw a beaver and much more evidence of their industriousness on the banks—huge lodges and places where they had felled trees. Passed under the lumber road bridge to Brunswick Lake.
Camped at the top of Pond Falls. Nice site. Someone had transported a 12 foot long, 10 inch by 10 inch beam, which made a great table/seat by the fire. Evidence of recent bear activity—aka scat.
This was Doug’s favorite campsite, flat yet elevated, with a nice seat. Long day of paddling 22 miles.
